Channels & Masks Ancient Doorway File

(Well, if you're going to refer to me as the "Incomperable Colleen" I'm certainly going to try....)

If you've made it to Lesson 7 in Photoshop CS4 Channels & Masks One-on-One and are finding that the practice file Ancient doorway.psd is behaving badly, it's because the file is truncated, i.e., corrupt. (No idea how it happened, just that it did happen.)

But no fear. I've attached the full file in all its splendor. Just right-click on this link here or the image below and choose Save or Download. Unzip the 18.8MB download and it'll grow into a 26.2MB PSD doc. Copy it over the bad file included with the book and you'll be good to go.

Bernhard-Free Documents

Dear LPersonne (not to mention other persons),

I am so excited to have published a book like InDesign CS4 One-on-One. I could not be more proud of David Futato and the rest of my team for having created such a beautiful and educational manuscript. Here's one of David's typically elegant and understated documents.

Funny thing about books tho -- of all the kinds of training I do, books are the one I can't edit on-the-fly. A printed book is the ultimate form of "destructive edit." There is no undo, no backstep. Your every training defect is on largest display.

Which is my way of saying: We have a mistake, and our first for this title may not be our last. But my policy, in this site and elsewhere, will be to admit to mistakes and remedy them. (WWOD?) Read more »

Photoshop CS4 One-on-One Errata Update: Missing Files

Hey all. We found out this week that there is a flaw on the DVD that contains the practice files for Photoshop CS4 One-on-One. (Thanks for letting us know, leachr and RobertJ!) On page 23 of the book, step 2, you are instructed to open the Balloon Thief folder.

Unfortunately, the folder's contents did not reproduce correctly on the DVD. (How's that for passive, non-accusatory language that doesn't place any blame?) Please download the zipped file you'll find here and use it to replace the existing subfolder in the Lesson 1 folder you got from the DVD. Your pilfered files will be restored, unlike poor Sammy's balloon.
