Martini Hour 020, In Which Deke Aspires to Be Asleep In the Gutter

This week on Martini Hour, the lounge is once again full of luminary talent, international charm, and refreshing cocktails. We've invited back that wizard of digital paint, Bert Monroy, to discuss his new work, "Times Square at Night." And we're also fortunate enough to have that salty-tongued Canadian Karen Gauthier from Gridiron software visit us once again. (It's a good thing, too, because with the gazillion terabites of files that go into Bert's 5-ft x 25-ft digital painting, he is the perfect stress tester for Karen's new product, Flow.)

Here's what we found in the mind of the master this week: Read more »

Martini Hour 019, In Which Colleen (Lover of Pronouns) Unleashes the "We" in the Sche

This week, we are joined by the one person who may possess more esoteric knowledge about Photoshop than dekeHimself. Direct from the Chicago Annex of the dekeLounge--which he has stocked with a variety of vodkas (did someone say vodka?)--comes renowned photographer, Photoshop insider, and keeper of PhotoshopNew.com: Jeff Schewe. Plus, we were so charmed last week by Karen Gauthier (of GridIron Software, but she also flashes her credentials as former product manager of Photoshop) that we invited her back as well. And so, with such Photoshop vets around, we decided to discuss that most venerable of topics: The History of Photoshop.

(Photo by Jeff Schewe, treatment by Deke, neither a surprise. Click here for Jeff's unadorned "Five Bottles" image.)

Oh, and if you listen carefully, you may hear the "hotline" voice of a mystery guest who thinks he might know a thing or two about Photoshop. Which of course is utterly and completely ridiculous. ;-)

Martini Hour 018, In Which Deke Takes on Two Women at Once

If you've ever had one too many martinis and can't remember where you stored the components of your complicated project, this week's guest has the answer for you. Veteran product manager, Karen Gauthier—our first ever international visitor to the dekeLounge—travels all the way from Ottawa (that's in Canada, you know) to bring us a preview of GridIron Flow. Flow is an amazing product that keeps track of your digital files and presents them to you in a beautiful, detailed map. In fact, Flow is so sexy it inspired this week's graphic.

We're guessing Flow will be the Best New Design Product of 2009, and we have something special for you: a wicked good deal. Thanks to our large and swelling ranks (>10,000 members before the month is out!), GridIron Software has seen fit to offer denizens of dekeTropolis a special deal: $50 off the purchase price of Flow. It's a unique discount available only from this URL: gridironflow.com/deke. Would we steer you wrong? No we would not. (We choose our partners! They do not choose us! Power to the dekeple!)

As you consider your purchase, here's what's in store in this week's episode: Read more »
