This Might Be the Funniest 2D Movie Ever

I'm sure a lot of you have seen this one.

But after I posted that vagina thing, my marketing maven assured me that I should distract everyone's attention with anything, and I do mean anything, regardless of the topic.

So while Mr. Hartman's audition tape has nothing to do with Photoshop or Illustrator or anything computer graphics-related, it may well be the funniest movie ever made. Read more »

Martini Hour 094, In Which We Hypocritically Mock Some of Adobe's Odd Feature Names

What's in a name? Does a feature that goes by any other name still function as well? This week we're enjoying making fun of the names of Adobe features that don't really make any sense. And who are we to complain? "Martini Hour" is never really an hour and this week we're drinking Manhattans. So join us on this vaguely hypocritical but otherwise entertaining discussion of goofy names for otherwise highly useful (for the most part) set of features in Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign. Like Martini Hour, you shouldn't be scared off by the names.

Martini Hour 094: Adobe's strangely named features

Here is a list of cryptically, oxymoronically, or just ridiculously named features that we enjoy making fun of this week: Read more »

Martini Hour 040, In Which Deke and Scott Kelby Appear Together in Front of Witnesses

It was one of those historic convergences. Like when Henry VIII and Francis I met on the Field of the Cloth of Gold in 1520. Or when Pacino and DeNiro finally appeared together in the same movie in 1995.  Some wondered whether it would ever happen. But the planets aligned.  It was Photoshop World. It was Las Vegas. And one day, in the fall of 2009, two legends of Photoshop met on the same stage, in the Eyecandy lounge in the Mandalay Bay casino. McClelland. Kelby. Photoshop Magic. And we were there, folks.

Here's how the historic moment went down. Read more »

We're in Sin City, and You Should Be, Too (for Martini Hour Live on Thursday from Our Temporary Lounge in the Mandalay Bay)

Deke and I are both here in Las Vegas getting ready for our first ever live recording of our podcast, Martini Hour. Yes, live, as in, in front of an audience full of loungers. (Oh yeah, there's also a little thing going on called Photoshop World, too.) As much fun as it is to hang out with Deke and Buddy and the Pimm's Quartet in the secret dekeLounge, I can't wait to get out in public at the Eyecandy Sound Lounge in Mandalay Bay this Thursday (and Buddy will be there too).

What a treat it will be to meet those dekeOmaniacs who make it out to our lounge-away-from-lounge here in Las Vegas. And hey, there are still some seats left for the early seating (1pm) of Martini Hour Live; just send an email to martinihour@deke.com as soon as possible. (And check out the list below to see the amazing special guests who'll be hanging with us!) You don't have to be an attendee of Photoshop World either--you just have to get yourself to Vegas, babies. Seriously, we can't wait to meet you. And those who attend will receive a free stainless steel commemorative Martini Hour martini glass. Relaxing yet stimulating conversation, indestructable but elegant swag, and awesome but friendly special guests. And it's all free, babies! Why aren't you here yet?

I tell you, not only is my co-host charming, but he's very handy when you want a kick-ass graphic, as well! Read more »
