Thinking about Ink

While I was procrastinating, I mean, uh, preparing to review Deke’s latest chapter on printing, I came accross this amazing video on the Huffington Post via Laughing Squid. I realized a few things:

  • You may feel entitled to peruse the blogs on Sunday morning, but if you have work to do, something will insidiously remind you.
  • Watching ink be made to classical music can be sexier and make you hungrier than any video featuring actual sex or food. I’ll never read the letters CMYK again without thinking of those barrels pouring out their shiny, candy-like contents, and possibly wanting to drink and/or bathe in them.
  • People who are passionate about what they do (like the guy featured in this video) are inspiring in a way that gives you hope that focus, dedication, and love will get you through the most daunting of tasks, complex of problems, or murky of futures.

I dare you to start this video and turn away before it’s over. Good Sunday to you all.

  • I see those buckets of ink…

Then I think about how much they charge us for a dribble of it in a cartridge for the inkjet printer.

  • Beethoven One on One

It’s allways fascinating to listen to a passionate guy speaking of wathever he knows, ink in this case.

By way of passion, we’re listening to Beethoven Piano Concerto No.5 - Second Movement “l’Empereur” -en français dans le texte- written in 1809.

It’s interesting to know that Beethoven became death in 1801 at the age of 31, not preventing him to write master pieces after that.

Still, I hope that Photoshop aspirant guys won’t become blind starring at KappelMeister Deke’s One on One series!!!

Who knows, we’re in the Visual era…

    Thanks for your achivement Deke,

    philippe

  • you weren’t kidding, cw…

  • Love It

I ran a commercial printing facility for 20 years, and I never tired of mixing ink. Matching colors has always been an art. It’s one of the things I miss.
