Nice technique!

I love this technique although I thought you could have done the gaps by adding a white stroke in the appearance panel below the original stoke and then use the transform effect to move it where you wanted instead of expanding it and chopping it up. That way the whole thing remains a live effect.

Awesome tip! I never thought of doing it that way, but that would definitely be the better way to go. Kudos to you.

The width tool really

The width tool really changes the whole game though when you make these tribal designs and swirls. I remember the old days of using the pen tool. Ugh!
