I Begin Work on the First of My Four Courses on the Wealth of 3D Features in Photoshop CS5 Extended

A quick note to let those of you who may be interested know: I just now arrived in Ventura, CA, at the recording studios of my esteemed video publisher lynda.com. Tomorrow I begin work on what promises to be a four-part comprehensive and (more importantly) comprehensible series on 3D in Photoshop, beginning with Photoshop CS5 Extended One-on-One: 3D Fundamentals.

Photoshop CS5 Extended One-on-One: 3D Fundamentals

This particular graphic happens to hail from an upcoming Deke’s Techniques movie, created in Photoshop CS5 Extended with a little help from Illustrator (as you’ll learn in May when that movie goes live). But, hey, it’ll do in a pinch.

If you have any 3D trials or tribulations that are troubling you, I invite you to comment here. I’ll be working on the various pieces of this series for the next few months, so suggestions are welcome.

You know what? Just for fun, here’s another image from an upcoming Deke’s Techniques (due out in March), again created using Photoshop CS5 Extended, this time with the help of Repoussé:

Photoshop CS5 Extended: Repoussé

So get ready. There’ll be a whole lot of 3D coming at you in future months.

  • Thanks!

Awesome! Any idea of how many hours these courses will be in total?

  • Transparent gradient problems in illustrator CS5

    Hi Deke,

Found you during a web search last night so I signed up. I’ve also seen your advanced Illustrator videos on Lynda.com as well - figured you could help?

I’m having strange issues with transparent gradients in Illustrator CS5… can’t get them to work smoothly, they seem a bit glitch-y.

I’ve tried asking people I know who are certified but I’m not getting any answers at all. I think either they are stumped or just don’t have the time. If you can help in any way I would really appreciate your input. I’m at a total loss and need to have an answer for my company on a certain project by the end of the week *yikes!*

    Can you help?

  • Well, I’m stumped and don’t have much time either

But what’s your problem? Try to be specific, please!
