Customizing a QR Code in Photoshop

In this week’s free Deke’s Techniques episode, Deke takes that cutting-edge technically from the last millennium, the QR code, and turns it something into new and modern (well, at least explosive and customized) for the current age. As only Deke can.

Deke begins with this unassuming, small QR code (generated free of charge at QR Stuff) and linked it to our shiny new site.

Next he prepares a suitably explosive background courtesy of our friends at Dreamstime.com. (It’s not a cheesy cauliflower, I’m just hungry.)

And then he supplies a just-barely-held-in-check amount of Deke embellishments so that the code still works when you scan it. Try it out on your phone, you should end up right back here!

If you’re a member of Lynda.com or LinkedIn Learning, Deke’s got an exclusive movie this week in which he shows you how he added the little bits of color and text that make it totally Deke.
