Illustrator Pen Tool (Triceratops) Tricks

\

In this week’s free episode of Deke’s Techniques, Deke conducts a classic Pen tool in Adobe Illustrator tutorial in the service of tracing his triceratops logo.

As you can see in the image above, our dino-girl is made from a series of anchor points pushed and pulled and prodded into position to give her smooth organic lines.

In the video, Deke shows you how to use his template (which I’ve supplied at the bottom of the post) to put each point into the right place, then manipulate its control handles for the desired effect.

Along the way, you’ll see the standard tips and tricks for getting everything in the right place.
